What is a Channel?
Think of a Channel as a folder which contains specific Auras you have created. This Channel can have a theme which you decide, and this means that you can group Auras that fit this theme in one place, helping you to organise things in the process.
Channels have two status options: Public or Private - this article will break down the key differences.
How do I create a Channel using the app?
If you want to create a Channel you need to do this at the 'share' stage of the Aura creation process, as this screenshot shows:
By default, your Auras will be put in a private channel - any Auras put inside this private channel will not be discoverable by others.
When you create a new channel, by default its status is set to 'private' so if you want other users to be able to find your content make sure you select 'public' during the process of creating it.
- Once you have created a channel, you cannot edit it
- Once you have created an Aura using the App, you can not switch it into a different channel
How can my Auras be viewed through multiple devices?
If you want the Auras you have created to be viewed by devices other than your own, there are 3 options available here:
- Following a Public Channel
- Make sure your content is added to a Public channel, so that others can find and therefore follow you (see next question for more info)
- Share a Private Channel
- You can directly share a link to your Private content meaning it can be viewed by others but only if they have the link
- Share a Private Channel via a QR Code
- Apply the share link to a QR Code to make the process simpler for end-users
1. Follow a Public Channel
If you have added Auras to a Public Channel, do not expect that the Auras contained inside this Channel will work automatically on any user's device - Users will need to be "following" your Channel in order for the Auras to work.
It is important to be aware that by default, any Aura that is created using the app is added to a private channel - if you want to allow other users to find your Aura you need to add it to a 'public' channel.
2. Share a Private Channel
When you have created your Aura, and selected it to be put into a Private Channel, you are taken to the 'Showcase' screen. From here you need to select 'Share'
You will then be presented with the default options for the apps you have available on your device:
Once you have selected an option (we have selected 'Message'), you will notice a link that is populated - this is specifically what you will want to share with other users:
3. Private Channel with a QR Code
The final option is to ask users to scan a QR code, prior to scanning your trigger image.
In order to set this up, you need to take the following steps:
Step 1 - Hit 'Share' when your Auras are inside a Private Channel
Step 2 - Click on the URL that is generated (e.g.,http://auras.ma/s/xyz12)
Step 3 - 'Copy' the full URL that appears in the address bar:
Step 4 - Find a QR Code generator, we recommend http://qr.8-bit.jp/en/:
Step 5 - Copy and paste the URL into relevant box
Step 6 - IMPORTANT - Remove the 's' after 'https' from the full URL before generating QR code
Step 7 - Generate the QR code
Step 8 - Add the QR code to your trigger image. Users can scan the QR code with the Reveal app, and as long as you removed the 's' after the 'https' in the URL, users will not need to be logged in to view your content as the QR code will auto follow the content on that users device.
