What is HP Link?
Link Technology involves the creation of Unique Identification codes which combine with marks that are either overt (such as a 'regular' or 'secure' version of a QR code), or covert (digital watermarks, which are generally not visible to the human eye). Once printed, the various mark types with their embedded 'codes' can then be detected/read by some form of a reader, either in a commercial setting like a production line, or with a hand-held device such as a mobile phone or tablet.
The Link platform allows for the creation of large quantities of unique, serialized marks, so Link Technology is often used by companies looking to solve issues related to product Track and Trace or Brand Protection/Counterfeiting use-cases.
What is HP Reveal?
HP Reveal today is based upon Image Recognition technology, and can therefore be used with products that already exist (i.e. no need to create, embed, and print in advance). Most use-cases for this technology center around providing rich end-user/consumer experiences.
One point to consider with any Image Recognition solution is the inability to distinguish between similar-appearing objects, so you generally would not use this technology for product Track and Trace or anti-counterfeit use-cases.
