This article outlines the high-level process in how to convert an existing model produced using CAD software into a format compatible with Aurasma.
Aurasma requires that 3D models be exported in a DAE format using the OpenCollada exporter - this exporter is not currently compatible with CAD software.
As a result, you are required to export your CAD model in a format that can be read by 3D modelling software, however this software needs to be compatible with OpenCollada. As a result, we strongly recommend 3DS Max or Maya.
Although we can also recommend Blender (which is free!), it doesn't support OpenCollada. However, it's default Collada DAE format, created with AutoDesk Collada will work with the Aurasma 3D engine.
File formats compatible with our recommended software
As mentioned, you need to export your CAD model as a file format that allows for it to be imported into your chosen 3D modelling software.

Preparing your model for Export to a DAE
Once your model is imported into the 3D modelling software, you need to ensure that this model abides by the Aurasma 3D Specifications - if it isn't, you will need to optimise the model so that it is ready to be run on a mobile device.
Once you are confident that you model meets the requirements of the Aurasma engine, export your model as a DAE with OpenCollada, and add to your TAR along with any PNG textures.
